Brad Tavares’ big shot has been derailed by a bad break.

The Waiakea graduate is out of The Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale headliner, scheduled for July 6, after suffering a broken foot in training, according to UFC president Dana White.

“Brad Tavares, I don’t think anyone knows this yet, but Brad Tavares just this morning broke his foot,” White told TMZ on Thursday . “He’s out of that fight now with Israel. We’re looking to put somebody new in with this kid and I’m excited about him.”

Tavares (17-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) was scheduled to fight unbeaten rising star Israel Adesanya (12-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) in Las Vegas.

Tavares has won four fights in a row and is coming off of a third-round stoppage of Krzysztof Jotko in April in Arizona.
