Henry Evangelista, 82, of Papaaloa died May 29. Born in Hilo, he was a retired tractor driver for the former Hamakua Sugar Co. Visitation 8-9 a.m. Saturday (June 9) at Honomu Catholic Church. Celebration of life service at 9 a.m. Burial 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Survived by sons, Henry (Sheri) Evangelista and Dwayne (Lani) Evangelista of Papaaloa, Pauly Evangelista of Hilo, Robert Evangelista of Kapehu; daughter, Rochelle (Al) Evangelista of Kapehu; brother, Alan Evangelista of Alaska; sisters, Eileen Gascon of Oahu, Patricia Villasista of Honomu, Elizabeth Soarez of Puna, Yvonne Blair and Marge Cudal of Oahu; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Tom Gordon Harper, 76, of Captain Cook died May 31 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Victoria, B.C., Canada, he was a businessman in the health supplements industry. Graveside burial 11:30 a.m. Sunday (June 10) at Christ Church Episcopal in Kealakekua with church service to follow. Survived by wife, Margaret Harper of Captain Cook; son, Tony Harper of Canada; daughter, Tiffany (Derek) Haarsma of Canada; stepson, Greg (Veronica) Klimek of Canada; stepdaughter, Agnes (Adam) Coronica of Canada; brother, Joe Harper of Canada; sister, June Herrington of Canada; grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family. Henri-Ann Kuuleinani Nagata, 60, of Captain Cook died May 3 at home. Born in Kukuiopae, she was a custodian at Konawaena Elementary School and a member of the Buddhist Women’s Association, Ikebana, Kona Kumamoto Kenjin Kai, Kona Japanese Civic Association, the Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and former member of the Headpins Bowling League and Teacher’s Mixed League. Visitation 9:30-11 a.m. Sunday (June 10) at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire; flowers omitted. Hideko “Ruth” Shigematsu, 97, of Honokaa died May 18 at home. Born in Olaa, she was an avid gardener who raised anthuriums and orchids, Los Angeles Dodgers and University of Hawaii wahine volleyball fan and member of Honokaa Hongwanji Mission.
