The Rotary Club of Hilo accepted $20,000 from its sister club, Rotary Club of Hiroshima-South from Japan, during the Hilo club’s meeting Friday at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.

Hiroshima-South’s contribution will go toward the Hilo club’s Puna Lava Relief Fund distributed by the Rotary Club of Pahoa Sunset.

Shigeo Mimura, president of Hiroshima-South Rotary, sent his club’s heartfelt aloha to the Big Island community, said Ed Hara, Rotary of Hilo past president.

The Rotary Club of Hiroshima-South has about 110 members. About 24 Hiroshima-South Rotarians will make their annual visit with the Rotary Club of Hilo and six Hiroshima students will be doing home-stay with Waiakea Interact Club members from Aug 17-21.
