(Caterpillar) and was involved in Advanced Kempo Karate Systems, ranching and hot rods. Inurnment service at 4:30 p.m. Saturday (June 2) at Taishoji Soto Mission, 275 Kinoole St., Hilo. Celebration of life starting with formal program at 9 a.m. with activities until 3 p.m. Sunday (June 3) at Puuanahulu Community Arena, 71-1409 Hawaii Belt Road, Kailua-Kona. Benedict “Ben” Shon Sr., 87, of Hilo died May 24 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Opihihale, South Kona, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for Andrade Services, the former Theo H. Davies and the former Hamakua Sugar Co., member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and former member of Portuguese Cultural Club. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Tuesday (June 5) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel.
