Leo Palmer Kahilu Campbell Sr., 88, of Kalapana Black Sands subdivision, died May 16 in Hilo. Born in Hilo, he worked for Hawaiian Electric Co., owned P.K. Hauling and Daily Bread and was a U.S. Army veteran. Celebration of life, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday (June 2) at Onekahakaha Beach Park pavilions No. 2 and 3. Casual attire. Royce Takeo Ebesu Jr., 61, of Hilo died May 11 at home. Born in Lihue, Kauai, he was a Pyramid Insurance agent, owner of Kozmic Kones and Body Therapy, a University of Hawaii at Hilo baseball clinician, member of the Vulcan Booster Club, Kal’s Pals, Nobu Yamauchi RBI, Cougar Baseball, Crash International and Total Recs golf club. Visitation 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday (June 3) at the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Sangha Hall, 398 Kilauea Ave. Celebration of life at 2:30 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Julia “the Pasteles Lady” Maldonado, 83, of Keaau died May 6 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in North Kona, she was a former candy maker at Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co., worked at Miko Meats, and was a member of Connect Point Church and Golden Eagles at Glad Tidings Church. Hideo Nagai, 87, of Hilo, died May 9 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Papaikou, he was a retired accountant for James Yoshiyama CPA Inc., retired U.S. Marine Corps 1st lieutenant and Vietnam War veteran and member of Marines Combined Action Program Luc Luong Hon Hop and Taishoji Soto Mission. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday (June 1) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. The late George Evelyn Woods Nehenuiikalani Dickson was survived by, among others, brother Ma‘ulili W.G. (Edith Kawai) Dickson of Waimea. His name was misspelled in an obituary published Thursday. The Tribune-Herald regrets the error.
