Edgar M. “Jerry” “Boogie” Barrett, 91, of Wickenburg, Ariz., formerly of Hilo, died May 14 in Surprise, Ariz. Born in Choteau. Mont., he was an educator who taught math for two decades at Hilo High School, builder, rancher, naturalist and U.S. Army World War II veteran. No local services. Survived by wife, Alyce Barrett; daughter, Keely Barrett, of Spokane, Wash.; son, Blake (Kai) Barrett of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; brother, Paul (Pat) Barrett of Fairfield, Mont.; four grandchildren; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Sandra Namaha Blanco, 67, of Ocean View died May 15 at her residence. Born in Hilo, she was a supervisor for MacFarms of Hawaii and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
