Born in Honolulu, he was a retired chief engineer for Molokai/Maui Electric and had engineering positions at the former Ka‘u Sugar, Puna Sugar and other plantations on the Big Island and Kauai, member and trustee for Hilo United Methodist Church, Parker UMC and served as president of Volcano Community Association, board member of Volcano Community Foundation, former president of Bito Doshi Kai Okinawan Club and member of Hui Okinawa.
