Mediator Diane Petropulos presents “Civility in the Workplace: Conflict Resolution and Managerial Mediation” from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 1 at the Hawaii Innovation Center in Hilo.

The workshop is part of Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center’s “Tools to Transform Conflict” training series.

“This training covers the financial costs of conflict, frustrating workplace behaviors, their consequences and how to use collaborative skills to lay the foundation for a civil organization,” Petropulos said.

The workshop, which includes hands-on practice, has been offered on the islands of Hawaii and Maui for state agencies, health care entities and nonprofit organizations. Participants will learn techniques and tools for immediate use in daily interactions.

Petropulos has offered mediation, facilitation and training services throughout Hawaii since 2001. She is a former lecturer at the master’s level in the Human Resource Management Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and has mediated hundreds of circuit, district, and small claims court cases for Maui Mediation Services, where she serves on its board of directors.

Tuition for the workshop is $75 and includes lunch (group discounts and individual needs-based partial scholarships are available). The Innovation Center is located at 117 Keawe St. To register, visit https://civilityintheworkplace.eventbrite.com or contact Erika Ginnis at Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center at 935-7844, ext. 1, or erika@hawaiimediation.org.
