Another fissure has opened in Leilani Estates, bringing the total number of confirmed vents to 21.

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reported the new fissure opened downrift of Makamae Street in Leilani Estates Thursday afternoon. Meanwhile, other vents have reactivated, with new flows of pahoehoe lava generated.

Residents of Leilani Estates are warned to take necessary precautions and be alert for additional hazards in the nearby area.
