Yaeko “Esther” Aoki, 94, of Hilo, formerly of Pahala, died April 22 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Kahului, Maui, she was retired from the former C. Brewer and Co. and was a member of Pahala Hongwanji Mission and Puna Hongwanji Mission. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday (May 1) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Graveside committal service and burial noon Wednesday (May 2) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 1. Survived by son, Alan Aoki of Seattle; daughters, Esther Aoki of Las Vegas and Kay Aoki of Hilo; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Richard John “RJ” Higgins, 72, of Kapaa, Kauai, formerly of Hilo, died March 29. Teruyo Uyeda Mihara, 90, of Hilo died April 11 at home. Born in Hilo, she was co-founder, former vice president and retired office manager for Mihara Transfer Inc. and member of Kinoole Baptist Church. Private services held.
