Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island will celebrate the grand reopening of its Hilo ReStore on Saturday at its new location at 863 Iolani St.

The ReStore moved to a new and bigger building in February. The grand reopening celebration will feature a blessing at 8:30 a.m., a hula performance, 20 percent off storewide sale and lunch prepared by the Hilo Kiwanis Club for purchase.

Customers also can participate in do-it-yourself clinics for adults and keiki, and there will be raffle drawings every 30 minutes to win prizes from local businesses.

The store will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Customers are encouraged to bring donations of new or gently used household items, furniture, appliances or building materials to help “stuff-a-truck.” All items are sold back to the community at a fraction of retail price and donors are able to get a tax receipt for their donation.

The ReStore is the retail arm of Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global, nonprofit housing organization.

Habitat Hawaii Island works with low-income families to help them build a safe, decent and affordable place they can call home. Habitat Hawaii Island is volunteer driven and relies on donations to help partner families.

To date, it has completed 60 news homes, 36 critical home repairs and 24 Neighborhood Revitalization Projects.
