The nonprofit Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center is hosting a free talk from noon-1 p.m. Thursday as part of its monthly “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series at the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney in Hilo.
This month’s speaker is Harry Uhane Jim on the topic “Ho‘oponopono: Communicating the Grace of Hawaiian Benevolence.”
“Hawaiian culture has concepts and skills sets that co-create balance and abundance,” Jim said. “Ho‘oponopono is about forgotten ways of thinking and feeling. All relationships manifest harmonious order when you clearly know who you are.”
In this talk, learn about the Hawaiian time-evolved practice of managing trauma and transforming chaotic patterns into shapes of order and peace.
Jim, born and raised on Kauai, is trained in the traditional apprentice style by well-known kahunas from the past seven decades. Author of “Wise Secrets of Aloha” and kahuna for Halau Uhane Lomilomi Lapaa‘u, Jim has lectured for Kamehameha Schools and other schools and organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Ku‘ikahi’s Brown Bag Lunch Series is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch and enjoy an informal and educational talk-story session.
