Puna Gallery and Gift Emporium is hosting its grand opening event from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday in Pahoa.

The community is invited to meet Puna artists and celebrate with light pupus and acoustic guitar.

Puna Gallery and Gift Emporium is a family-operated business created by Amedeo and Althea Markoff. Markoff, who has owned a wood mill in Pahoa since 1995, said he recognized a need to create a venue to showcase the furniture, bowls and other functional art being produced in his workshop plus other Puna artists who have become a part of their extended ohana.

“Our goal, along with other businesses here, is to provide a welcoming place for locals and visitors to stop, shop, eat and explore right here in Puna,” Markoff said. “Our focus for the revitalization of Pahoa Village is on local art and locally made gift products.”

Located at 15-2901 Pahoa Village Road, Puna Gallery and Gift Emporium is open from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. daily except Wednesdays. Follow the shop on Facebook/Instagram for upcoming events, including its all-student art show in May. For more information, email punagallery@gmail.com or call 937-4146.
