Police have apprehended a 41-year-old man wanted in an attempted murder investigation in which an errant shot was allegedly fired at a police officer and a separate alleged assault on a police officer.

Jayse Polaris Lee Sr. was taken into custody at 12:15 p.m. today in a traffic stop on Koa Lane near Ocean View Parkway in Ka‘u. Police also arrested the driver of the vehicle, 35-year-old Jeffery Lee Torres of Ocean View.

Police say officers found two firearms in the vehicle.

Lee was charged with violating parole and is being held without bail. He remains in the Kealakekua police station while police continue to investigate the alleged attempted murder incident Feb. 9 in Puna’s Tiki Gardens subdivision and the alleged assault March 25 at Ocean View Market.

Torres was charged with violating probation. His bail was set at $10,000 and he’s scheduled to appear in Kona District Court Wednesday morning.

Anyone with information on either investigation is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
