Ahava ‘Aina is hosting a Passover seder from 5-9 p.m. March 30 at the Wainaku Executive Center in Hilo.

“Everyone is welcome — all faiths, all beliefs, all ages — to join us for an oceanside meal and community cultural experience,” said Rabbi Rachel Short, leader of Ahava ‘Aina. “This is an exciting opportunity to meet new friends, gather as a community and enjoy great food in an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance.”

The seder, from the Hebrew word for order, is an annual retelling of the Exodus of the Jews from Egypt and is highlighted by a festive meal.

“It’s the seder that has kept families and communities together for thousands of years,” Short said. “What’s special about the seder is that everyone is invited to participate.

“Unlike many other religious and cultural rituals, the Passover seder does not take place in a synagogue — it takes place around a dinner table.”

Seating is limited. The executive center is located at 26-238 Hawaii Belt Road. RSVP by March 28 by visiting www.AhavaAina.org.

The nonprofit Ahava ‘Aina is on a mission to heal the world and build the first Jewish cultural community center and synagogue in East Hawaii. Board members include Russell Ruderman, Mitch Roth, Rene Siracusa, Jill Raznov, Marla Wolfe and Kelly Short.
