BIIF softball: Kohala, Kamehameha split

Mikayla Kekoa fired a four-hitter, and Kohala held off Kamehameha 4-3 in Game 2 for a split of a BIIF softball doubleheader on Wednesday in Kapaau. 

The Cowgirls junior right-hander went seven innings, walked two and struck out three for the win in the Division II matchup.

Kekoa had three hits and two RBIs, Cheylin Imai had two hits and two RBIs, and Kaila Amaral and Nicole Castillo each had two hits for Kohala (3-4).

The Cowgirls scored two runs in the first and fifth innings off Jessica Cameros, who went the distance in the loss.

No one paired hits for the Warriors (5-1), who scored three runs in first inning.

In Game 1, Kamehameha slugged 18 hits for an 11-5 win.

Dioni Lincoln batted 4 for 4 with two RBIs, Cameros 3 for 5 with two RBIs, Taylor Sullivan 2 for 5 with two RBIs, Leiloa Bustamante was 3 for 4, and Kawai Kauahi-Raquel went 2 for 4.

Brooke Baptiste scattered seven hits for the win. She walked eight and struck out three.

Symphony Kauanoa also went the distance and took the loss. She walked seven and whiffed one.

Kekoa batted 2 for 3, Missy Fernandez had two hits, and Danyka Cazimero-Roxburgh had two RBIs.

Baseball

Hilo 11, Kealakehe 1: Donald Saltiban Jr. pitched two innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts, and Kekoe Ogawa followed with four innings of scoreless relief.

Maui Ahuna batted 3 for 3, Puukani De Sa and Ryan Ragual had two hits and two RBIs each, and Logan Respicio was 2 for 3 for the Vikings (5-1).

No one paired hits for the Waveriders (1-4).
