Vul tennis at No. 5

The UH-Hilo men’s tennis team jumped to No. 5 in the latest ITA/Oracle Division II Collegiate Tennis Rankings on Wednesday.

The Vuls (9-1) have defeated every Division II opponent they have played, six of them ranked, including No. 8 Hawaii Pacific twice.

UHH also has a number of players listed in the singles and doubles rankings. Vaclav Slezak is No. 24 in singles and Alessandro Giuliato is No. 36. Arturo Dell’eva is ranked No. 51, and freshman Chun En Wu is 65th.

The Slezak/Giuliato doubles combination is No. 18 while Wu and Gregory Zukeran are ranked No. 31.

Jennie K. scholarships

Applications are being accepted for the Jennie K. Merit Scholarship for young women 12 to 18 years old.

The 68th annual Jennie K. Wilson Invitational will be held May 18-20 at Oahu’s Mid-Pacific Country Club.

Volleyball clinic

A Mother’s Prayer Foundation will hold a volleyball clinic, for all ages for boys and girls, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 at Panaewa Gym. Cost is $30, and registration starts at 2:30 pm.

Featured clinicians are former All-American UH Rainbow Wahine Kanani Danielson, former Wahine players Sarah Mason and Kalei Adolpho, UHH’s Poli Olevao-Kahapea, Huafa Saulala, and Marley Strand-Nicolaisen, UC Riverside’s Kaiu Ahuna, and former BIIF players Tehani Kupahu-Canon, Tiani Teanio, and Erika Kaawa
