Pitching and power pushed Point Loma to a sweep of UH-Hilo on Saturday and a split of the four-game series at Wong Stadium.

Travis Flores homored in each game, his eighth and nine bombs of the season, and Wyatt Shackleford tossed a three-hit shutout in a 6-0 victory in the nightcap after the Sea Lions won the opener 14-4.

After taking the first two games of series, the Vulcans (7-9, 3-5 Pacific West Conference) fell back below .500.

In the first game, Brandyn Lee-Lehano (0-2) didn’t allow a run threw the first innings but he couldn’t get out of the fourth inning as he lost his control, walking three batters and hitting another before being pulled.

The highlight for UHH was freshman Jaryn Kanbara’s first collegiate home run, a three-run blast.

Travis Burleson (1-3) got the second-game start, allowing a three-run home run to Flores in the first and departed after four innings.

Flores had six RBIs on the day as the Sea Lions (11-10, 7-5) finished with 25 hits.
