Man dies in crash at North Kohala beach park

KAILUA-KONA — A 66-year-old man is dead following a single-car crash Monday afternoon at a North Kohala beach park.

Fire rescue personnel responded to a report of a person pinned between a vehicle door and a tree after apparently running off the roadway at Keokea Beach Road heading to Keokea Beach Park. The call came in at 3:26 p.m.

Hawaii Fire Department Battalion Chief John Whitman confirmed the man was dead upon the arrival of personnel.

The Hawaii Police Department was unable to provide additional details as of press time Monday.
