The nonprofit Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center is hosting a free talk from noon-1 p.m. Feb. 15 in the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney as part of its “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series.
This month’s speaker is Janice Ikeda, director of operations at HOPE Services Hawaii, on the topic “Recognizing and Removing Barriers to Organizational Communication.”
“My mission is to raise the capacity of emerging, innovative and inclusive leaders who are committed to local-style community growth,” Ikeda said. “This interactive session engages participants to develop an awareness of organizational structure and the roles we play as agents of communication.”
In this talk, attendees can gain strategies to effectively participate in and facilitate communication within their organization.
Ikeda earned her M.A. in organizational leadership from Gonzaga (Spokane, Wash.) University and her B.A. in communication from University of Hawaii at Hilo. As a professional, Ikeda has more than 10 years of experience in nonprofit management and has been mentored by local, national and international leaders.
Ku‘ikahi’s brown bag talks, the third Thursday of each month, are free and open to the public. The prosecutor’s office is located at 655 Kilauea Ave. in Hilo. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch, enjoy an informal and educational talk-story session and meet others interested in “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace.”
