Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island relocated its East Hawaii ReStore to 871 Iolani St. in Hilo.
ReStore is open for regular business beginning today and continues to sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials and household items at a huge discount off of retail price in a much larger building. ReStore also accepts donations of the same items with pickup service available. Store hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is the retail arm of the organization, helping raise much-needed money to fund the building of new homes and critical repairs on existing homes for Big Island families.
It also acts as a recycling facility, keeping approximately 800 tons of material from Hawaii Island landfills each year. Residents can donate their new and gently used items to the ReStore to receive a tax deduction.
This is Habitat for Humanity’s third ReStore on the island, the other two are located in Kona and Waimea. There will be a grand opening event later in the month for the new store.
Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global, nonprofit housing organization. Habitat Hawaii Island works with low-income families to help them build a safe, decent and affordable place they can call home.
Habitat Hawaii Island is volunteer driven and relies on donations to help partner families. To date, Habitat Hawaii Island has completed 32 new homes, 36 critical home repairs and 24 neighborhood revitalization projects.
