Police have charged a 39-year-old Ocean View man with second-degree attempted murder for a stabbing Friday in Ocean View.

At the initial court appearance Monday for Moses Libero, Kona District Judge Margaret Masunaga ordered him to return today for a preliminary hearing and maintaned his bail at $250,000.

At about 11:50 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a property on the 92-1600 block of Kona Drive in Ocean View after receiving a report of an assault in progress. Upon their arrival, police determined that Libero and a 31-year-old Ocean View man were involved in a confrontation which resulted in the younger man sustained stab wounds to his neck, chest and forearm.

Police say the victim was taken to Kona Community Hospital in critical condition and later flown The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, where he is still hospitalized.
