Groundhog Day is near, and that’s how it must start to feel for the Warriors this time of year.
Kamehameha (9-4) rides a six-match winning streak into Saturday’s title match (5 p.m. in Kealakekua) against the eight-time defending champion Ka Makani, who have relegated the Warriors to runner-up status the past six seasons.
On Wednesday at Paiea Stadium, Kamehameha defeated the Makua Lani Lions in the BIIF semifinals for the fourth consecutive season, winning 6-0 behind a hat trick by senior standout Hevani Haunga.
Hiilei Wong Yuen added two goals and Chenoa Frederick finished with one.

Waiakea 6, Keaau 0: Kai Biegler netted two goals as the host Warriors clinched a home match in the Division I semifinals.
Gabriel Frazier-Jenkins, Chase Kotomori, John Grover and Austin Halsted also scored for Waiakea (5-3-2), which hosts Hilo on Wednesday in the semis.
Isaac Sumera and Taylor Todd combined on the shutout of the Cougars (2-9 White).
Pahoa 3, Ka’u 3: Bill Velez scored twice for the visiting Daggers, and Brennan Nishimura tallied two for the Trojans as both teams finished the season by earning their second point.
Kalae Woods had a goal for Pahoa (0-7-2 Blue), while Logan Velez also scored for Ka’u (0-8-2 Blue).

Honokaa 8, Kohala 1: Daneau Domingo put home two goals in Kapaau for the Dragons (7-4 White), and Levi Higa, Isaac Aguilar, Josiah Rodrigues, Malachi Pesta and Kelson Pedro had once each.
Alika Viernes scored for the Cowboys (5-3-1 Blue), who allowed an own goal.
