A single motorcycle crash on Hawaii Belt Road (Highway 19) north of Laupahoehoe critically injured the rider and a passenger Thursday afternoon.
Hawaii Fire Department Battalion Chief Matthias Kusch said both individuals were taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea in critical condition.
Few other details were available. The crash closed one lane of the highway and traffic was being directed through the scene intermittently from both directions.
