See rocket club launches in Hilo

SHARKs, the Big Island’s only registered rocket club, will host its first winter launches at 9 a.m. Tuesday and Friday in Hilo.

Approximately 50 rockets will be launched from six launch pads.

The Society of High Altitude Rockets Kids, SHARKs, is a National Association of Rocketry-sanctioned section and is affiliated with Mauna Loa School in Hilo. The only school using rockets for its STEM programs, the students are learning first-hand many of the complexities associated with the bringing of science to real life.

For more information or directions to the launch site, contact Kevin Cornwell at kevin@cornwell.net or text to 747-4768, or call Mauna Loa School at 935-1545
