Teen charged as adult in Kona sex assault

Police charged an 18-year-old Kailua-Kona man with sexual assault and other offenses in connection with an incident reported on Sept. 3, 2016.

A Kona Family Court judge on Wednesday waived jurisdiction on Latrik. Latrik was then charged as an adult with kidnapping, second-degree robbery, second-degree assault, first-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree sexual assault and three counts of first-degree sexual assault for the incident, which occurred at Old Kona Airport Park in Kailua-Kona area.

At Latrik’s initial court appearance today, Kona District Judge Margaret Masunaga maintained his bail at $50,000 and ordered him to return Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
