And than there were six.

The race to get down to four teams for the BIIF Division I boys basketball playoffs is just getting started after Hilo and Kealakehe won Saturday night, leaving all six D-I teams with winning records.

While Hilo edged Keaau 41-40 on the road to improve to 4-3, the Waveriders did the same at Hilo Civic, beating St. Joseph 77-49.

Bryton Lewi scored 26 points for the Kealakehe, which jumped out to a commanding 53-20 halftime lead against the Cardinals (0-5).

Dylan Costales and Ruka Suda each scored 11 points for Division II St. Joe.

In Kapaau on Saturday night, Paka Cacoulidis scored 12 points to pace Konawaena to a 45-39 victory against Kohala as the Wildcats ran their record to 5-2, creating a three-way tie for second place with Waiakea and Keaau.

Maui Hook led the D-II Cowboys (3-3) with 14 points.

This week, there are a pair of important D-I matchups Tuesday (Hilo at Waiakea and Keaau at Kealakehe), one on Thursday (Kealakehe at Hilo) and another Friday (Keaau at unbeaten Kamehameha).

The D-II game of the week is Thursday, as Hawaii Prep and Honokaa play after Saturday’s contest at Honokaa’s Parks and Recreation gym was postponed by wet floor conditions.
