The Rev. Pressley Sutherland, who serves as Metropolitan Community Church’s associate director of church and ministry development, will be moving from Tampa, Fla., to Pahoa to become the new senior pastor at Open Arms MCC.

Sutherland was ordained in 1998 and has worked globally in local and denominational ministries and human rights initiatives.

A native of Virginia, Sutherland has degrees from Union Theological Seminary in New York and the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

The public is invited to a worship service at 10 a.m. Jan. 14 at the Ainaloa Longhouse to welcome Sutherland to the Big Island. For more information about the church, visit Open Arms MCC on Facebook.
