The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory Tuesday for the Maunakea summit that was in effect until this morning.

The advisory, which ended at 6 a.m. today, was a downgrade from a winter storm watch issued Monday that was scheduled to last until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Although steady snowfall was predicted for the summit for the remainder of the week, a slight increase in temperature changed the forecast to one of steady showers.

Meanwhile, ongoing rainfall is predicted for the Hilo area, although a flash flood watch and high surf advisory were set to expire Tuesday evening.
