Pahoa man charged with business burglary

Police have charged a 29-year-old Pahoa man in connection with the Thursday burglary of a vacant business building in Hilo.

Police have charged a 29-year-old Pahoa man in connection with the Thursday burglary of a vacant business building in Hilo.

At 11:50 p.m. Thursday officers spotted a man in a pickup truck parked between a shipping container and the fence line of a business on Silva Street. Police also discovered that the fence was cut and the door to the business had been kicked in. Several items taken from the vacant business were allegedly in the bed of the truck.

Police arrested Nicholas Blackwell and he was charged Saturday with second-degree burglary. His bail was set at $2,000 and his initial court appearance is scheduled for today.
