Pacific Lutheran and 2016 Konawaena graduate McKenna Ventura fell to No. 1 Colorado College 21-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 15-8 in the NCAA Division II in the Texas regional semifinals on Saturday.

Despite leading 2-1 in sets, the Tigers staged a late-comeback win behind Jordan Mullen’s 25 kills and .442 hitting clip.

Ventura, a 5-foot-8 sophomore outside hitter, played in all five games and had seven kills on 26 swings and hit .192. She had five digs, a solo block and a block assist for the Lutes (21-5).

Colorado College (33-1) had more kills than PLU, 65-42.

Waiakea keiki fun run

Waiakea High School’s 12th annual Healthy Keiki Fun Run will take place on December 16 at Ken Yamase Stadium on campus. The fun run is for grades K-6 and is a 1,500-meter course. Entry forms are available at all elementary schools on the east side and at the WHS main office.

The UHH softball alumni game on Saturday was canceled due to wet weather.

The team’s intrasquad preview is still scheduled for 1 p.m. today at the Vulcan field, weather permitting.
