Hawaii County hosted its 52nd annual employee recognition awards ceremony for 2016-17 on Monday night with 19 exemplary employees nominated for the categories of Manager, Supervisor and Employee of the Year.

Hawaii County hosted its 52nd annual employee recognition awards ceremony for 2016-17 on Monday night with 19 exemplary employees nominated for the categories of Manager, Supervisor and Employee of the Year.

Joaquin B.K. Gamiao-Kunkel of Planning was named Manager of the Year, Kevin S. Hashizaki of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney took the Supervisor of the Year award and Employee of the Year was accorded to Glenneen R. Erece of Finance.

Employee of the Year

• Sandra A. Aguiar, human resources assistant, Department of Human Resources, Health &Safety

• Marilou B. Carvalho, clerk, Police Department

• Melissa A. Dacayanan, planning commission support technician, Planning Department

• Mary E. Fujio, legal technician, Office of the Corporation Counsel

• Douglas B. Goehring, GIS analyst, Department of Environmental Management

• Matthew L. Iaukea, information systems analyst, Police Department

• Alvin K. Inouye, water plant electrical/electronic equipment repairer, Department of Water Supply

• Dennis K. Kauka, Jr., clerical services assistant, Office of the Mayor

• Renee K. Kusano, senior account clerk, Department of Water Supply

• Paul Mangus, police officer, Police Department

• Maurice C. Messina, legal assistant, Office of the Prosecuting Attorney
