Carole Fusako Osaki, 72, of Hilo died Oct. 13 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired medical technologist. Private services held. No koden (monetary gifts). Yoshie “Carole” Oshiro, 86, of Hilo died Oct. 20 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and its Buddhist Women’s Association and choir, Hui Okinawa, Big Island Karaoke Club, Kamana Karaoke Club and Piihonua Community Association. Survived by daughter, Debbie (Gordon) Gota of Hilo; son, Lloyd (Analyn) Oshiro of Paso Robles, Calif.; sister-in-law, Tomiko Oshiro of Hilo; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Noreen “Keala” Kealaonaona Spencer, 69, of Pahoehoe died Oct. 31 at Hospice of Kona Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born in South Kona, she was homemaker, housekeeper for the former Kona Lagoon Hotel, assistant supervisor for Kona Coffee Cooperative and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. EC Hobron “Hoby” Van Gieson II, 79, of Las Vegas died Sept. 16 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Hawaiian Telcom engineer. Magdaleno “Casey” Santella Villalun, 66, of Las Vegas, formerly of Hilo and Pepeekeo, died Sept. 17 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas. Born in San Juan, Ilocos Sur, the Philippines, he was a fish cutter for Suisan in Hilo and Hosoda Brothers in Las Vegas, cutter operator for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co., farmer and U.S. Army veteran who enjoyed cooking, socializing, collecting antiques and Hawaiian soda bottles, and classic cars. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Friday (Nov. 10) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service and celebration of life at 6 p.m. Casual attire.
