Weatherization program kicks off

The Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council is accepting applications for the Weatherization Assistance Program.

The program offers free solar water heating systems, Energy Star refrigerators and energy efficient kits, which include energy-saving LED bulbs and EPA-approved aerators and shower heads.

WAP prioritizes services to seniors, families with young children, people with disabilities, households with high energy usage and families experiencing a high energy burden. WAP eligibility is income-based.

Hilo High PTSA craft fair Dec. 2

Jump-start your holiday season during the Hilo High School PTSA’s annual fundraising Christmas Craft Fair from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 2 in the school cafeteria.

All funds raised will help support students, classrooms and school projects. The public is invited and admission and parking is free.

There will be handcrafted and affordable gifts items, gift baskets, holiday decorations, packaged food and treats by more than 40 Big Island professional artisans and crafters. There also will be door prize drawings every half hour.
