Police have charged a 24-year-old Puna man in connection with a Halloween night road-rage incident in Hilo.

Beau De Dier is charged with two counts of first-degree reckless endangering and five firearms offenses. His bail was set at $15,500 and his initial appearance in Hilo District Court is scheduled for today.

Just after 7 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to several reports of gunshots coming from a red sedan on Kanoelehua Avenue near Waianuhea Place in Hilo. A 36-year-old Hilo man reported that one of the gunshots struck his home on Waianuhea Way. Officers later learned there was another vehicle involved and the confrontation stemmed from a road-rage incident, police said.

No injuries were reported.

About 15 minutes later, police arrested De Dier and three other people, 23-year-old Michael Paoa of Puna, 20-year-old Brandon Kahakua-Victorino and 19-year-old Chazlyn Yamamoto, both of Hilo, on suspicion of reckless endangering.

The other three were released pending further investigation.
