Baha’is of East Hawaii celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Baha’u’llah, founder of the Baha’i faith.

The Baha’i communities of East Hawaii are hosting “Light of Unity Festival” events in Hilo, Puna and Ka‘u to celebrate the birth of the Bab, herald of the Baha’i faith, and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Baha’u’llah, founder of the Baha’i faith. The events are slated for Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 21-22).

The Light of Unity Children’s Festival is from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Pana‘ewa Zoo Pavilion. The event features activities including face painting, music, comedy by the “Puna Princess,” puppet-making, games and snacks.

On Sunday, the Light of Unity Festival will be celebrated from 1-4 p.m. at Pahoa Community Center, with entertainment featuring music, dance, comedy by the “Puna Princess,” food and fellowship.

Both events are open to the public and free of charge.

The Ka‘u Baha’i community is hosting a dinner party and entertainment from 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday at Pahala Community Center. For more information about the Ka‘u event, contact Sandra Demoruelle via email at naalehutheatre@yahoo.com or call 285-6463.
