On Monday, Green was the standout at the Vulcans claimed their third victory in a row, 25-21, 19-25, 27-25, 25-22 against Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont, Calif.

Green’s 23 kills were a career high – 21 more than she had Sept. 30 in a win against Point Loma – and Kiley Davis, the newly minted Pacific West defender of the week, added 10 kills and seven blocks for the Vulcans (7-7, 4-4 PacWest).

Ashton Jessee compiled eight kills with a .389 hitting percentage, and Randi Hunter added eight kills to turn back the Argonauts (9-7, 4-4).

UH-Hilo visits Cal State East Bay on Tuesday.

Women’s golf: The Vulcans showed marked improvement, placing four golfers in the 80s in the first round of the Western Washington Invitational in Bellingham.

Senior Mariah Paiste led the way with an 9-over 82, followed by Keely Kitamura (85), Kristeena Locke (87) and Dillyn Sakai (88) as UH-Hilo posted its best round of the season at 50-over 342.

California Baptist led at 6-over 298, while the Lancers’ Kristyna Abrahamova (71) held a one-shot lead.

Awards: While Davis, a junior middle blocker was honored for the first time, goalkeeper Jenna Hufford took home defender of the week in women’s soccer after shutouts against Holy Names and Hawaii Pacific.
