It’s been nine years since Marlo Moku of Hilo disappeared. On Sept. 23, 2008, Moku might have gone to the 7-Eleven in Kaumana, but police say her whereabouts were unclear.

Some wondered if the 33-year-old ran away, but the Moku family thinks she would never abandon her children. A couple of weeks after her disappearance, her car was found at the bottom of a cliff in Hakalau.

Family say Moku was a devoted mother, loving daughter and sister and a faithful friend.

“She was always smiling,” said Moku’s younger sister, Kawehi Moku. “Our family, especially her children, miss her so much. The uncertainty is the hardest part.”

Anyone with information that can help the Moku family is asked to contact the police Criminal Investigations Section at 961-2255 or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
