The Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra is participating in Give Aloha, Foodland’s annual community matching gifts program.

The program, which honors Foodland Super Market Ltd. founder Maurice J. “Sully” Sullivan, continues his legacy of giving back to the community. Partnering with the Western Union Foundation, Foodland matches a portion of all donations, up to a total of $300,000 each year, for all participating nonprofit organizations, directing charitable giving efforts toward the programs their customers consider most important. Give Aloha continues through Sept. 30.

When customers shop at Foodland or Sack N Save during September, they simply show their Maka‘i Card and ask to donate to the Kamuela Philharmonic, organization No. 78508 (up to $249.00 per person). Foodland and the Western Union Foundation will then contribute a matching gift to the orchestra. All contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

“Give Aloha has always been timely for Kamuela Philharmonic,” said Nancy Stephenson, KPO president. “Our season begins with the first concert on Oct. 15, so having our supporters making themselves known during September really enables us to present an exciting and robust kickoff to the concert year.”

The continuing generosity of benefactors such as the Dorrance Family Foundation, the Turner Family and Kahilu Theatre, as well as many local small businesses, has made it possible for the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra to survive and grow.

New contributors to this effort are always welcome and can receive extra benefits offered during the 2017–18 concert year, including as many as two free season passes.
