Police have arrested a 24-year-old Mountain View man in connection with a green Toyota pickup truck allegedly stolen from a Papaikou business on Aug. 3.

Police have arrested a 24-year-old Mountain View man in connection with a green Toyota pickup truck allegedly stolen from a Papaikou business on Aug. 3.

According to police, on Aug. 11 officers spotted the truck on the side of Highway 11 in Mountain View. They reportedly identified the driver as Dyson Sarme-Medeiros, but the suspect was able to elude capture by fleeing on foot.

Police arrested Sarme-Medeiros without incident Tuesday morning in Hilo and later charged him with driving a stolen vehicle.

His bail was set at $10,000 and his initial appearance is scheduled today in Hilo District Court.
