Organizers of the 19th annual Early Signs Health Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Life Care Center of Hilo are gearing up for an exciting event.

Honorary Chairman Dr. Kevin Kurohara and Life Care Center of Hilo and Executive Director Mark Mann have secured an impressive lineup of service providers, agencies and individual practitioners who will be on hand to provide free services to the public.

Among them are Dr. Brian Sugai, appearing for his 16th year of offering foot screens, Dr. Chris Igawa and Dr. Patsy Fujimoto, oral screens, Dr. Dean Guida, chiropractic screens, and Project Vision Hawaii, retinal screens.

Last year, participants reported learning new things about their health and body. Clinical Laboratories provided free cholesterol checks for 150 participants and gave participants a written report of their results. They provided education on cholesterol and encouraged asking questions.

Also scheduled:

• KTA, bone density checks.

• Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi along with Hawaii Community College nursing students, blood sugar checks.

• University of Hawaii nursing program, blood pressure checks.

• PharMerica and Longs Drugs, medication reviews.

And back by popular demand, Dr. Gary Johnson, in-house geriatric physician at Life Care Center of Hilo, will offer a “What’s Up Doc?” booth, one of numerous health stations on tap.

Life Care Center of Hilo is located at 944 W. Kawailani St.
