This month’s speaker is Ku‘ikahi mediator Catherine Lampton on the topic “Mastering the Challenges of Listening.”
“Listening is one of the most misunderstood and complex phenomena in the human body. Most people think listening and hearing are the same, but they are not,” Lampton said. “Discover your ‘listening gap’ and how you can use it to improve your relationships and significantly reduce conflict in your life.”
In this talk, if you dare, accept the “listening challenge” Lampton designed especially to improve listening skills.
Lampton, M.A., is researching her dissertation, “More Listening = Less Conflict.” She says if people understood more about listening, everyone would be better able to work toward creating more peace in their homes and communities and the world.
Ku‘ikahi’s Brown Bag Lunch Series is free and open to the public. The talks are the third Thursdays of each month. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch and enjoy an informal and educational talk-story session.
