Looking to continue the momentum after Hilo-based Nobu Yamauchi’s Senior baseball team claimed a title Saturday, the 19-under softballers continue pool play Tuesday morning with games against the Phillies and Houston. The playoffs begin Wednesday.

Coached by Tracy Miyashiro, Nobu Yamauchi’s last appearance in the World Series came in 2015, and it’s looking for its first title since 2009.

On the team are Shaily Moses, Symphony Kauanoe, Gracie Patao, Jessica Cameros, Kawai Raquel, Missy Fernandez, Kawehi Ili, Ku’ulei Ili, Brandee Chinen, Brooke Baptiste, Skylar Thomas, Moana Pinner and Makena Wagner.

Mana 10s are on tap Saturday

The Mana 10s will be held at 7:30 a.m. Saturday in Waimea.

The entry fees for the 10-miler and 10K are $5 for Big Island Road Runners members and $10 for non-members., and race-day registration is available from 6:30-7:15 p.m.

Fro Hawaii hoops clinics

Fro Hawaii Basketball Academy is holding Sunday basketball clinics, starting this Sunday and running through Oct. 1, at Papaikou Gym and Waimea District Park.

Ages 9-11 camp from 10-11:30 a.m. and ages 12-18 camp from noon-1:30 p.m. The fee of $25 includes a reversible jersey.

Also, Fro Hawaii will hold a biddy basketball camp for ages 5-8 and beginning 9-year-olds from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at Papaikou Gym. The fee of $40 includes lunch and a camp T-shirt.

Ka’u High seeks coaches

Ka’u High is seeking head coaches for boys and girls swimming, baseball, softball and tennis, and a assistant cross-country coach to work under the supervision of coach Erin Cole.

Applicants for coaching must have prior high school or college coaching experience, a college diploma is recommended, and must clear Department of Education background check.

Advanced basketball training program

An advanced basketball training program will be held Aug. 12,19 and 26 at Kekuaokalani Gym in Kailua-Kona.

Training is from 9:30 a.m.-noon and is free to experienced players ages 10-17.

UH-Hilo tennis players earn honors

UH-Hilo tennis players Gregory Zukeran, Anne Carsey and Kinsey Volkart were named to the 2016-17 International Tennis Association’s Scholar-Athlete Team.

Zukeran, from Honolulu, had a 4.00 grade-point average in his major of prenursing, and has a 3.72 overall GPA. Carsey also finished her sophomore season this past spring with a 3.57 GPA for the year in her major, marine science. The Flagstaff, Arizona, native carries a 3.77 overall GPA into her junior year. Volkart graduated last spring with a degree in business administration and has a 3.80 GPA.
