This year, the Building Industry Association of Hawaii received the Susan Harwood Capacity Building Grant, which provides funds for training programs to educate construction workers and employers about hazards in the workplace.

The training will be offered at Hilo Community College for workers from 8 a.m.-noon and for managers, employers and supervisory staff from 1-5 p.m. Monday, and for safety managers and safety coordinators from 8 a.m.-noon Wednesday.

CSIP, developed by BIA-Hawaii and numerous Hawaii-based organizations and experts, provides occupational safety and health training and technical assistance to employers and employees in the construction industry.

Additionally, workers will learn about their rights and employers about their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

Registration is free and available to small or new construction businesses, workers in construction and workers who are not currently employed but are interested in the construction industry.
