The Tribune-Herald is setting up a team for Hilo’s Relay For Life on Saturday, and we need your help.

Our team is hoping to raise $2,000 to fight cancer.

This year is the 25th anniversary of Relay For Life of Hilo. Relay For Life is a global fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Hilo’s event historically is one of the highest money-grossing Relays in Hawaii. Last year, Hilo’s Relay raised more than $203,000.

More than one-third of donations from Relay For Life fund services for cancer patients, according to 2015 data from the ACS. Remaining donations go toward cancer research, prevention information and education, among other things.

Here’s how to donate:

1. Visit the website: tinyurl.com/RelayForLifeHTH. This will take you right to the official Relay For Life website.

2. Click on the tab that says “donate.”

3. You will be prompted to answer a few questions, including your desired donation amount. You will then be prompted to enter your contact and payment information.

If you prefer, you also can mail donations or drop them off in person at the American Cancer Society’s Hilo office. The office is located at 58 Kinoole St. Suite 104, Hilo, HI 96720, which also is its mailing address. Please specify the donation is for the Tribune-Herald’s team.

4. That’s it. Mahalo for supporting us!

Come see us during the event Saturday, which runs from 4 p.m.-midnight at Francis Wong Stadium. We’ll be manning a tent and selling an assortment of baked goods and Tribune-Herald merchandise, such as umbrellas. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
