Mark Lewin Kapahua, 52, of Hilo died June 23 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church and volunteered at the Glad Tidings soup kitchen, feeding countless homeless people. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday (July 8) at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 116 Kapiolani St. Celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Aloha attire. Survived by daughters, Lehua (Kawena) Garcia and Tiffany Kapahua of Hilo; brothers, Antone Kapahua of Honolulu and Alva Kapahua Jr. of Hilo; five grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Leroy Naahulelua Makekau Sr., 71, of Hilo died June 22 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired iron worker for Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co., member of Iron Workers Union Local 625 and U.S. Army and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran. Visitation 8:30-10 a.m. Monday (July 10) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Franklin Atsushi Ota, 67, of Kailua-Kona died June 27 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a commercial spear fisherman and U.S. Navy veteran. Norma Louise Salisbury, 92, of Kailua-Kona died June 22 at home. Born in Helena, Mont., she was a retired registered nurse and former hula dancer for the late George Na‘ope Hula Halau.
