Police are investigating a Saturday shooting incident near the Glenwood transfer station as an attempted murder

Officers responding to the 1 p.m. report of a single gunshot fired, found a 21-year-old woman who apparently had been shot in the neck.

Police say the shot is thought to have been fired from a white sedan which fled in an unknown direction. Officers learned that the victim and suspec, might have been involved in an encounter just prior to the shooting.

The woman was taken to Hilo Medical Center and was reportedly in stable condition. She has since been released.
