Seven units responded to a 5:27 p.m. alarm Sunday at 19-4741 Amaumau Road in Volcano, with the first unit arriving 19 minutes later, to find the structure fully involved in flames. Both the home and the car inside the attached garage were deemed total losses.

No one was home at the time.

The fire was brought under control at 6:30 p.m.

Officials estimated the property damage at $250,000.

Fire inspectors and police are investigating the cause of the blaze.

Also under investigation is a late Monday night fire that destroyed a home at 14-3389 Lehua Road in Nanawale Estates.

Eleven units responded to the 10:10 p.m. alarm with the first unit arriving 15 minutes later to find the single-story home fully involved with the fire spreading to brush and foliage in the immediate area.

The he home’s occupants were evacuated and the Red Cross contacted for assistance.

The fire was brought under control at 10:40 p.m. and extinguished at 11 p.m.

The estimated loss was $195,000.

Traffic was re-routed through Pikake Road.
