The Hawaii Island Palm Society continues its summer tours of three private palm gardens in Leilani Estates with an outing July 15 to a palm garden truly in a class of its own.

The second of three tours introduces participants to a 5-acre, lushly landscaped garden with more than 5,000 mature palms. This is a garden rarely open to public tours.

The final tour of the season is of another legendary and iconic East Hawaii palm garden. An October date is being scheduled. Here you’ll see more rare palms along with aroids, orchids and bromeliads along with water features.

All tours begin promptly at 1 p.m. The Palm Society invites nonmembers to experience these gardens along with members. There is a $10 per person fee to attend each of the gardens, or you can join the Palm Society for $15 for two adults in a household and enjoy all the tours for the price of annual membership.

Each of tour is limited to 20 nonmember attendees on a first-come basis. To register, call Bob Gibbens at 333-5626.
