Papakolea Beach at South Point was named among the world’s 28 “most extraordinary beaches.”

Beaches were selected by the travel site Expedia for their “quirky features, breathtakingly divine vistas and memorable characteristics.”

Papakolea Beach’s “unique green sands” take a 2.5-mile hike to reach, the site says, but is “so worth the trek.” It is one of only a few green sand beaches in the world.

No other Hawaii beach made the list.
